Winston’s big finish not enough for Buccaneers
Jameis Winston and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers fell 31-23 to the St. Louis Rams on Thursday night at the Edward Jones Dome in Week 15 of the 2015 National Football League season. The Rams were unable to punch it in, however, but salvaged the drive with a 19-yard field goal from Greg Zuerlein that made it 31-13 with 10:39 left in regulation. If they struggle to move the Rams off the ball and keep them out of Winston’s face, then we will likely see the Rams come out of this game victorious.
The Rams are among a trio of teams eyeing a possible move to Los Angeles. In five years with the Giants, he missed only one game.
The Rams were also playing for Bailey, who is recovering from two gunshot wounds to the head in a Miami-area hospital. Martin couldn’t be tackled by one man most of the night, but the Buccaneers weren’t patient enough offensively and eventually had to shelve him when their deficit grew to 28-6 late in the third quarter. Cunningham’s 43-yard kickoff return set them up with a short field, and Keenum cashed it in with a 17-yard scoring strike to Austin 3:06 into the game.
Todd Gurley had 21 carries for 48 yards and a touchdown, adding two receptions for 31 yards on two targets, in Thursday’s 31-23 win over the Buccaneers.
Tavon Austin scored twice, Todd Gurley topped 1,000 yards rushing for the season and Keenum threw both touchdown passes in the first quarter.
Quarterback Case Keenum sliced up the Buccaneers’ defence, throwing for 234 yards and two touchdowns. “The fact that they stuck by us the whole year is a attractive thing”.
Other inactives for St. Louis: quarterback Sean Mannion, cornerback Eric Patterson, defensive tackle Louis Trinca-Passat, offensive tackle Isaiah Battle, and defensive end Matt Longacre. First, St. Louis’ offense had another great week, as last week they had another successful week as well.
In what has become an embarrassing theme, the Bucs made yet another backup quarterback look like a Pro Bowler for much of Thursday night’s game.
St. Louis dominated the first half with an infrequent display of offense, using big plays to produce three touchdowns.
Several stars from the 1999 Super Bowl championship team attended the game, including Orlando Pace, Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt, plus Kurt Warner and Marshall Faulk from the NFL Network. He finished the game with nine catches for a game-high 157 yards.
Austin capped off the Rams’ first series with a 17-yard touchdown reception after taking a quick screen from Keenum and picking up some key blocks downfield. We get an opportunity to come back home against the Bears and play our best ball.
Kenny Britt’s 60-yard catch was the first by a Rams wide receiver since Stedman Bailey against Arizona in Week 4. After a four-play, 98-yard Bucs drive to make it a two-score game early in the fourth quarter, a penalty called back the two-point conversion, they ended up kicking the single extra point and then the Bucs allowed a 102-yard return on the ensuing kickoff, which resulted in a Rams field goal that kept them at arm’s distance.
