Cruz, Rubio Parry and Dodge on Immigration
A Republican senator is investigating whether Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz released classified information while discussing the National Security Agency during Tuesday night’s debate.
Perry, who found himself relegated to the undercard debate during his run, also lamented the role of the national media in the Republican primary, saying that it had damaged his campaign, along with those of other governors and former governors Bobby Jindal, Scott Walker, and Jeb Bush, whose campaign he said was “on life support”.
Republican presidential candidate businessman Donald Trump gestures during the Republican Presidential Debate, hosted by CNN, at The Venetian Las Vegas on December 15, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Catherine Frazier, a spokesperson for Ted Cruz told Fox News Latino that the Texas lawmaker did not say anything in the debate that had not been previously reported, citing articles in both the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal that mention the 30 percent and 20 percent figures respectively.
“I’ll bet you they get big ratings”, Trump said about CNN on Wednesday. “Every online poll has me way ahead”.
“Last night, I had Jeb come at me”, Trump said, turning to his favorite Bush burn: “You know, low energy”. To which Paul responded, “Well, I think if you’re in favor of World War III, you have your candidate”. “And so one of his amendments was to block citizenship, and he made it just to block citizenship for anybody who entered the country illegally, which I think is exactly right”.
Rubio added: “Because I can promise you, the next time there is an attack on this country, the first thing people are going to want to know is, why didn’t we know about it and why didn’t we stop it?” I don’t think anyone is attacking me, I think it’s just, you’re number one by a lot – I mean, I was number one by 27 points. Donald, you’re not going to be able to insult your way to the presidency.
Rubio has two events in Iowa Thursday.
Students at Western Michigan University are giving their opinions on the latest republican debate, and in particular, GOP frontrunner Donald Trump.
Rubio was citing a Cruz argument in 2013 that his amendment to an immigration-reform bill would make the overall package easier to pass. Cruz’s campaign recently claimed that the amendment was actually a “poison pill” to make the larger bill politically toxic. “He had more time than nearly anyone”, said Mackowiak. “Ted Cruz had a chance to stand up for conservative principles on stage in Vegas, and he folded like a gambler with a busted flush”, the paper wrote.
“I hear now he’s doing… negative commercials on me”, Trump said.
“As far as other people, like in the migration where they’re going, tens of thousands of people having cell phones with ISIS flags on them”, he said.
“Marco knows what he is saying isn’t true”, Cruz said. “And listen, this is another example of the Rubio campaign trying to spread misinformation”.
