3rd Indianapolis-area district cancels classes
Suburban Indianapolis police were searching Thursday from an unknown person who posted threats on Facebook and prompted two school districts to cancel classes for more than 7,000 students on their last day before winter break.
Police and the FBI are investigating after authorities say someone made threats to Plainfield High School and Danville High School near Indianapolis, IN.
The Nassau County and Long Beach police departments determined that the threat, which suggested endangerment to all districtwide buildings, was not credible and there is no danger to the student or staff population, according to a release by district Superintendent David Weiss.
School officials in the in cities of Danville and Plainfield cited concerns about the safety of students and staff in announcing the closures of schools.
Repeating: The safety and security of all students is our highest priority, and the entire corporation campus will be closed today, Thursday, December 17. The district includes six schools and about 5,400 students.
Plainfield Connecticut schools are working as usual Thursday morning after concerns were raised following a threat to a town with the same name hundreds of miles away.
She says officials deemed the threat “less than credible”.
Police told RTV6 that they arrested two male Danville students, one a sophomore and one a freshman. They encouraged parents and students to be vigilant Thursday morning and report any suspicious activity to police. “No credible evidence has been revealed to support this rumor”, Shafer said. Danville Schools and the Danville Police take these types of situations very seriously. The school also tweeted that it was on lockdown. They say two drawings were found in a boys’ bathroom stall at the high school. Police are looking over video surveillance to see if they can find out who drew the images.
Officials with the San Francisco Unified School District said Thursday that officials deemed the threat not credible. That district has four schools and about 2,500 students.
