Donations Will Benefit the Toys for Tots Program

Obama delivered opening remarks after being introduced by retired Lt. Gen. Henry P. (Pete) Osman, president and CEO of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, at the event for the seventh straight year, of which the last six were hosted at JBAB.

After weeks of collecting thousands of Toys for Tots, the Marines are now hard at work handing out the toys to parents and non-profits so needy kids will have something to open under their tree this Christmas. They also donated several boxes of toys and more than $1,500 to be used to buy more gifts for the children.

Since 1991 Booz Allen employees have supported Toys for Tots and other charities that distribute toys to deserving children.

The Marines said a message on social media that anyone can show up to pick up toys is wrong. However, many of Santa’s helpers have taken time out of their schedules to embrace the heart of Saint Nicolas … giving to those in need.

“We’ve watched Douglas grow up over the years and admired his dedication to the Toys for Tots program”, said Michigan State Police Sgt. Mark Thompson of the Brighton Post, which serves as a drop off spot for the program.

When we stopped by this morning, bins for children under two were essentially empty.
