Sikh Student In Texas Put Behind Bars After Joking About Bomb
A 12-year-old Sikh boy in Texas was arrested last week after a “bully” allegedly reported the student had a bomb in his backpack and made a threat towards their school.
A Facebook post written by Armaan Singh Sarai’s cousin said “a bully in class thought it would be amusing to accuse him of having a bomb, and so the principal, without any questioning, interrogation, or notification to his parents, called the police”. His parents got anxious when he did not return home from school on Friday.
According to Haer’s post, Armaan’s family contacted every police department in the area in a bid to locate him, only to find out that he had been sent to a juvenile facility.
From the Arlington Police Department in United States’ Texas, an officer, however, told media that the boy was sent to the juvenile centre after admitting he had joked about the threat.
Armaan’s family, however, said he was framed.
In a letter to the school principal Julie Harcrow, Sarai’s older brother Aksh Singh said other students, too, were joking about bombs but only the “Indian boy was taken into police custody”.
Ahmed Mohamed was suspended for three days and questioned by police in September after a teacher at MacArthur High School in Irving said Mohamed’s invention looked like a bomb.

“Armaan was born and raised in Texas by a loving Sikh family”.
The boy, named Armaan Singh Sarai, was arrested on Friday, Dec. 11 and kept behind bars at a Juvenile facility for three consecutive days without his parents being informed. The boy also has a heart condition due to which he has had to undergo three heart surgeries.
The issue was out, after the boy’s cousin mentioned about the same, in a Facebook post, which was shared by many.
“It hurts my heart and boils my blood that there are people stupid enough out there not only accusing us, but our innocent children of being terrorists!”
Interestingly, school authorities have released little information about what led to the arrest of the boy and what action have they taken up against the bully who accused Armaan of carrying a bomb. You can not joke in a school setting or anywhere for that matter that you have a bomb. “It sickens me even more that there are people even more stupid out there, taking their word for it”, Haer wrote.
The incident reminds you of a similar story that unfolded a couple of months ago in Texas where a teenager Muslim boy was arrested because he carried a homemade clock to his school.
