The Debate Clock: Cruz Talks The Most
Recent polls show that Christie is in second place in New Hampshire among the candidates.
If you include the October 13 Democratic debate that drew 15.79 million viewers on CNN, the network has now drawn three of the year’s four most-watched presidential primary debates. Chief Political Correspondent Michael Aron spoke to NJTV News Anchor Mary Alice Williams about the highlights. We are approaching 2012-style debate overload.
That enthusiasm wasn’t lost on Rubio’s opponents, drawing take-downs from Cruz and Sen.
“That was a very interesting interchange”, Christie said. “Coming here legally needs to be a lot easier than coming here illegally”, he said.
Cruz said he does not support legal recognition of anyone who enters the USA illegally. But with their squabbling, rude behavior and sometimes-out-of-touch comments, the candidates didn’t make that easy to believe. Christie even offered himself as a menacing presence, leaning forward and shifting back and forth behind his lectern like a rhinoceros sizing up a Jeep full of safari tourists. And yet they continue to debate about this bill and that bill in the subcommittee and whatnot. “And the president has left us unsafe”.
“If you’re in favor of World War III, you’ve got your candidate, ” Paul said.
CHRISTIE: “I would do it”.

Chris Christie threatened to shoot down Russian planes if Russian planes violated a proposed no-fly zone. I would not talk to Vladimir Putin. And now they will talk about it all over Christmas dinner and New Year’s Eve toasts. Somehow I don’t think Christie used this language with Obama during Hurriacne Sandy. We’ll support you, but you can’t come to our country.’ I mean literally, how do you tell the Jordanians or the Saudis or the Turks or the Egyptians, ‘We want you on our team.
“The performance side of this isn’t why I’m running for president”, he said on CNN. “I’m not going to be spouting off and scaring people”. It’s having that kind of judgement. “In fact, I think we’re less safe”. He spent most of the evening tearing into Rubio and to a lesser extent into Trump and Christie.
Rubio and Cruz also had opposing views on what authority the government should have to monitor Americans’ communications. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article. In the days since San Bernardino, public fears over terrorism have grown, and President Obama has been doing what he can to tamp down anxiety and encourage people not to give in to the fear that terrorists work to inspire.

Jeb Bush, the former Florida governor whose campaign has been struggling to get traction, slammed Trump’s ban, saying it would offend U.S. Muslim allies in the Middle East at a time when we need them. We’re not taking care of our great people, the veterans.
Rubio accused Cruz of weakening the government’s ability to track terrorists because he voted in favour of legislation to eliminate the National Security Agency’s bulk phone-records collection program and replace it with a more restrictive effort to keep the records in phone companies’ hands.
