President Obama to visit San Bernardino
President Barack Obama will visit San Bernardino on Friday to meet privately with the families of the victims of the December 2 terror attack at the Inland Regional Center that left 14 people dead and 21 others injured.
The White House will work to cement Obama’s achievements by strengthening health care, expanding clean energy production, implementing the Iran nuclear deal and normalizing relations with Cuba.
The California stop will be Obama’s last before he travels to Hawaii to spend Christmas and New Year’s with his family. “So this was an act of terrorism, created to kill innocent people”.
Federal authorities say the couple had become self-radicalized years before the attack.
The mass shooting on December 2 left 14 people dead and 21 wounded in what the FBI is investigating as a possible terrorist attack. The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the Paris attacks.
In a briefing for reporters Thursday, White House officials said Obama’s agenda for his previous year in office includes securing congressional approval of the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade pact, additional steps to address climate change, and bolstering gun control measures.
Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett said last week that the president has asked his team for a proposal soon.
Obama has vacationed in Hawaii every year since taking office.
