One of the biggest surprises this season has been the play of Jaguars’ second-year quarterback Blake Bortles. He has developed incredible chemistry with Allen Robinson, and no Sunday against the Colts reminded the world that Allen Hurns still existed.
In all honestly, the offense shouldn’t have much trouble with the Falcons, so it will be more on the defense to deliver.
The Jags’ starting running back, TJ Yeldon did go down with an injury to his lower extremities, but the severity is unknown. He has been one of the best receivers in the National Football League as of late, and shutting him down via corner Davon House would be huge toward limiting the Falcons’ attack. It’s an unfortunate turn of events for both Dalton – who was playing some of the best ball of his career – and the Bengals, who leading into the week appeared to be the AFC’s best team.
On paper, then, this looks pretty bad for Atlanta. Indy promoted cornerback Tay Glover-Wright from the practice squad to the active roster and waived outside linebacker Daniel Adongo, who was inactive last week after the team issued a statement saying it was “gathering information” about a possible criminal investigation involving Adongo. They’ve been allowing over 260 yards to opposing passers and their corners have not been that impressive. Last week, the Jaguars’ defense played exceedingly well and were able to force numerous turnovers and got after Hasselbeck effectively.
“I definitely think there’s a swagger and a confidence to this offense”, said tackle Luke Joeckel, per the team’s official website. Receiver Julio Jones has 18 third-down conversion catches. QB Matt Ryan would appear to have an opportunity to get untracked against the Jaguars’ 25th-ranked secondary, but no one seems to be able to put a finger on the genesis of the issues.
This week Jacksonville is now favored by 3.5 points against the Falcons in Jacksonville with a 48.5 point over/under, according to Las Vegas. “I feel great moving around”.
