Fire In Enfield Industrial Site Tackled By 72 London Firefighters
A large part of the pallet yard and nearby cars are alight.
Residents near the fire have been advised to close their windows and doors to prevent smoke entering homes and neighbours are being evacuated from the area.
These pictures, released by London Fire Brigade, show the scale of the damage caused by the fire, which broke out at about 10.10am in Ponders End.
An industrial estate has caught ablaze as more than 70 firefighters tackle the fire.
Thick black smoke can be seen pouring from the industrial estate, with emergency services closing nearby Mollison Road both ways between Lee Valley Road and Jeffreys Road due to the fire.
The fire was visible across east London and in the early stages the brigade’s 999 control took 26 calls to the incident.
A spokesperson told The Independent that officers were attempting to “cool down” a number of suspected gas cylinders that can explode when exposed to heat.
Around 11.05am James Wright posted a video of the smoke pillar dying down, captioning the video: “Fire dying down”.
The cause of the fire is now unknown.
