Anonymous Goes to War on Donald Trump for His Comments About Muslims
Sir Peter joined David Cameron, who earlier called the proposal to ban Muslims “divisive, unhelpful and quite simply wrong”, and the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, who said “the only reason I wouldn’t go to certain parts of NY is the real risk of meeting Donald Trump”. I have little doubt that.
“Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on”, a campaign press release said. “The more Muslims feel sad, the more ISIS feels they can recruit them…You have been warned, Mr. Donald Trump”. Twenty-nine percent of Republicans said they found Trump’s remarks offensive; 64 percent did not. Yet 41 percent of Republicans said the billionaire businessman’s comments may hurt his chances in the election.
Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson came in second among Republicans with 12 percent in the Reuters/Ipsos poll, and U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush tied with 10 percent.
But Trump’s standing in opinion polls of Republican voters was unchanged in the data released on Friday, which covered responses from December 8-11. The poll had a credibility interval, a measure of accuracy, of 5 percentage points.
According to the survey, Republicans are divided on Trump’s proposal with 42 per cent supporting his idea, 36 per cent opposing it and 22 per cent undecided. His statement that Muslims should be banned entering United States evoked sharp criticism not only in the USA but also around the world.
