Waiter turns over $32000 in cash left at Applebee’s in California
Here’s hoping somebody finds this waiter and leaves a ridiculous tip: A family unschooled in Murphy’s law was eating at a Fresno, California, Applebee’s Wednesday night, and for some reason brought ,000 in cash to their table.
The money was lost Wednesday afternoon after Erika, her mother and her son Damien went to a bank to place the money, which came from a restaurant her father owns in San Jose and proceeds from rental houses.
Thankfully an honest employee found the cash and turned the money into police, The Fresno Bee reported.
“We were going to deposit it to the safe box and they told us they didn’t have any available”, Erika Gonzalez said.
“He just said that he did it because it was the right thing to do and he didn’t want the right thing being overwhelmed by anything else”, Hellyer said.
Geery, a 10-year Applebee’s veteran who said the money exceeded his annual income after taxes, gave the pouch to his manager and went back to waiting tables.
Erika and Bertha Gonzalez didn’t plan to carry such a large amount of money with them all day, but when Bertha took her wallet out to pay her bill, she inadvertently left the cash behind. “It was legally obtained, and they were just an average working family that had made a mistake and left their money behind in a restaurant”. In fact, his managers aren’t even sure he’ll take a reward from the company or the Gonzalez family.
Underscoring the waiter’s honesty, Hellyer said there was no surveillance camera in the area where the family left the money. “That’s a lot of money”, Hellyer proclaimed.
Thursday morning, they called police.
