Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: NWA is in; women shut out
Performing from 1986 to 1991, the group was controversial due to their music’s explicit lyrics, which were often thought to be disrespectful of women and vocally oppositional to the police system in the United States (as highlighted in one of the band’s most popular songs, “F-k Tha Police”). It’s an album that rightly sits atop the 2015 end-of-year lists for Spin, Rolling Stone, Vice and Billboard, and it’s one which Dr. Dre produced.

Ice Cube took to Twitter to respond to the news of the honor.
NME reports that the inductees have been revealed for the 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. “If we’re doing something and it’s feeling kind of corny, I won’t want to do it. If we can do something cool…I think the audience wants to see something cool”.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced the most recent round of inductees into its arbitrarily-decided club of elites.
Inductees will be recognized at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s annual induction ceremony, which is scheduled for April 8 at the Barclays Center in NY.
Like Deep Purple, Steve Miller was also in his 23rd year of eligibility and, like Chicago, he had never previously been nominated. Deep Purple, best known for their sludgy brand of rock “n” roll and helping to bring in an era of metal, have classics such as “Smoke on the Water”, “Hush” and “Highway Star” in their lineup.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, will also open a special exhibit on the 2016 Inductees in conjunction with the 2016 Induction Ceremony.
Chicago, who won the fan ballot, grew out of the jazz tradition of the band’s namesake city, bringing the genre’s free-flowing melodies to pop.

Cheap Trick, a rock band that ripped through the ’70s and ’80s, had been eligible since 2002.
Steve Miller, who got his start in the 1960s, was on the ballot for the first time this year. Janet Jackson, The Cars, Los Lobos and Yes were among the other nominees rejected.
