Guus Hiddink in Chelsea talks about manager’s job
“Sad sad day”, Terry posted on Instagram.
Jose Mourinho was sacked as the Chelsea coach because of a “palpable discord with the players”, the English football club’s technical director Michael Emenalo has said.
But, with just one defeat from 16 league matches, Everton manager Roberto Martinez insists overhauling Leicester will be easier said than done for all their title rivals.
But today, according to the Daily Mail, Mourinho returned to the club to speak to his former squad one last time.
As things stand, however, neither Chelsea nor the coach have commented since Mourinho’s dismissal on Thursday.
FILE – In this Monday, Sept. 29, 2014 file photo, Chelsea’s coach Jose Mourinho, from Portugal, gestures, during a news conference at Sporting’s Alvalade stadium, in Lisbon, Portugal.
“His three league titles, FA Cup, Community Shield and three League Cup wins over two spells make him the most successful manager in our 110-year history”, Chelsea said in a statement.
Mourinho left the club just 24 hours ago but a Chelsea fan has already penned a song in his honour.
Mourinho is the fifth managerial casualty of the Premier League season, with Dick Advocaat, Brendan Rodgers, Tim Sherwood and Monk leaving Sunderland, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Swansea respectively.
This season is a different story.
The regular media call was lined up to preview Saturday’s Stamford Bridge Premier League clash against Sunderland, but has now been scrapped.
There has been no official word on a replacement for Mourinho.
Overall, Mourinho has won 21 major trophies.
The Dutchman endured a disastrous spell in charge of his country’s national team that somewhat mirrors Mourinho’s own travails with Chelsea this season. In the Champions League, however, he never got past the semifinals. Though the team did advance from a relatively weak group in prestigious Champions League play that pits top European teams against each other, the Chelsea bosses took action. However, Abramovich will turn to his friend Hiddink to right the ship, and hopefully bring some dignity back to Stamford Bridge.
Bilic said: “There are more clubs or teams sacking their managers when situations like this occur, than those who stick with their managers”. If I’m being realistic that won’t happen but one can dream, can’t they?
“Now, I spoke with Mark Hughes after the game last week and he told me, after Wenger, he is the longest serving one”. There are only a few moments you can really enjoy each season.
