Meek Mill Could Face Prison Time Over Parole Violations
Meek Mill took the stand in a Philadelphia courtroom on Thursday and pleaded with the judge not to sentence him to more prison time.
However, despite valiant efforts from both Meek and his lady Nicki Minaj, the judge ultimately found Meek guilty of “technical violation” of his probation, according to TMZ reports.
The 28 year old has previously served short stints in jail and home confinement, but these were more lenient sentences than he could have faced as a result of a 2009 drug and gun case, as he could have spent five to ten years in prison.
But Common Pleas Judge Genece Brinkley threatened to send Mill to jail when the hearing resumes December 17, as she did for a few months previous year. She ordered him not to work or perform before the February 5 sentencing. After he accompanied his girlfriend Nicki Minaj to the American Music Awards, news that the Dreamchaser may face jail time surfaced. And defense lawyer Frank DeSimone says the couple is seriously discussing marriage.
Thursday didn’t turn out to great for Meek Mill.
Minaj said she has helped give Mill structure over the course of their relationship. She was in court with him and told the judge she’s working to keep Mill on the straight and narrow. Under the terms of his probation, Mill was required to obtain a travel voucher before leaving his hometown of Philadelphia. “And those people are notoriously slipshod [at organisation]”.
“Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill are engaged and have a bun in the oven”, the site theorized.
Meek also reportedly apologized to the Philly D.A.in his case, whom he called a racist past year and referred to her as a “b-h” in his song “The Ride”, saying he was “immature” to have done so.
Mill told the judge he was so concerned about the rules that he missed being at his mother’s bedside after a recent surgery in New Jersey.
