The Indiana Pacers Will Wear fantastic ‘Hoosiers’ Uniforms This Season
The team hasn’t announced when the jerseys will be worn, but said that the jerseys will be used as an alternate beyond the 2015-16 season.
And it was announced today that the Indiana Pacers will celebrate the anniversary by breaking out Hickory throwback uniforms for a few games this season.
The Indiana Pacers will honor the most beloved basketball team of their home state – Hickory High from the movie Hoosiers.
Good news, ’80s-movies-and-fundamentals-loving dads who root for the Indiana Pacers!
Personally, as a child growing up in Indiana there was no greater sports movie than the film ‘Hoosiers’. “Hoosiers takes us all back to a special place and time”.
Hoosiers starred Gene Hackman, Barbara Hershey and Dennis Hopper and was loosely based on the 1954 Milan High School basketball team’s state championship in Indiana.
Though the shorts, in particular, are not a work of art, this is such a cool and fun idea that the pure aesthetics of the uniform really don’t matter.
About to begin their 49th season of professional basketball in Indianapolis, the Indiana Pacers are a member of the National Basketball Association and the flagship of Pacers Sports & Entertainment which includes Bankers Life Fieldhouse, the WNBA Indiana Fever and Pacers Foundation. “We look forward to drawing attention to the contributions and accomplishments of those that have made Indiana synonymous with the game of basketball”.
I’m guessing Ray Allen’s “J”. Everyone loves the Hickory Hoosiers, and seeing the Pacers out there on an National Basteball Association court looking just like them is going to be a sight to see.
