6 rescued from boat on Eastern Shore
An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City went out to scene and hoisted everyone aboard to safety.
Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads received a distress call at about 6:20 p.m. stating an 18-foot pleasure craft was aground with four adults and two children aboard.
A Coast Guard helicopter rescue crew from Cape Cod pulled three people from the water more than 150 miles off the coast after their vessel sank Monday. The boat was stuck and “high and dry”, but no other nearby boats could help because of the depth of the water.
An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Elizabeth City got them off the boat and took them to Accomack County Airport.
The Coast Guard Cutter Blacktip, an 87-foot Patrol Boat homeported in Channel Islands, is scheduled to search the area for Wood throughout the night.
