Obama to meet with families of San Bernardino attack victims
U.S. President Barack Obama delivered a staunch defence of his record Friday, saying that decisions made earlier in his term had produced a stronger economy and improved quality of life for Americans.
President Obama landed in San Bernardino Friday evening for a private meeting with relatives of the 14 people killed in the shocking December 2 terror attack that rocked the working-class city about 60 miles east of Los Angeles.
Obama said, “I think the system worked” this time.
“We want to get to a government in Syria that’s responsive and responsible to the Syrian people”, Kirby said.
“Despite the pain and the heartache that they’re feeling, they could not have been more inspiring and more proud of their loved ones and more insistent that something good comes out of this tragedy”.
Before the action, Obama had been criticized for not using executive pardons more. The school is more than a mile away from the airport and less than 5 miles away from the IRC. They spoke for several minutes.
Obama said they planned to defeat IS by systematically cutting off their supply lines, cutting off their financing, and taking out their leadership, forces, and infrastructure. “There are still funerals going on”.
Obama met with members of each of the 14 families. Crowds cheered, applauded and took cell phone pictures.
San Bernardino Sun reporters are covering the President’s arrival live. “It will not happen”, he said.
“The response was overwhelming and enthusiastic and elevated the level of hope in prison that they may not actually die there”, said Julie Stewart, president and founder of Families Against Mandatory Minimums.
He said that now, there is no “specific and credible information about an attack on the homeland”, although he added that Americans should remain vigilant.
“Despite the incredible vigilance and professionalism of all our law enforcement… you don’t always see it”.
“This holiday season all of us are united in our gratitude for [American servicemen and women’s] service and we are thankful to their families, as well”. In response to those who said he initially failed to address Americans’ fears, the president has held a series of events this week. “I believe the time is ripe for this issue”, said a senior administration official. “So I know my worth in society”.
President Barack Obama is applauding Congress for passing a $1.1 trillion bill to fund the government and avert the possibility of a shutdown for the first nine months of next year. Obama’s visit came 16 days after the attack at the IRC, much later than most of the president’s visits to the sites of mass shootings, which he typically visits in the first week after an incident.
In the survey tracking Americans’ views of the year’s biggest news events, Americans placed far greater importance on the massacres in Paris, San Bernardino and Charleston than the accomplishments Obama himself would rather highlight as the year comes to a close. “He talked about Isaac’s kids and he gave them encouragement”.
