Will Grier Transferring From Florida
Grier informed his teammates Friday night that he was leaving.
After multiple reports surfaced with the news of the redshirt freshman quarterback’s departure, the Gators confirmed the news.
“Will came to be about exploring his options to transfer”, UF coach Jim McElwain said.

Grier, the Gators’ former starter who is serving a year-long NCAA suspension over a failed drug test, informed the coaching staff of his intention to transfer schools late this week.
As a transfer, Grier will be out of football for 18 months. “I’m really, really sorry to everyone”.
The Gators were 5-0 and 42nd nationally in passing offense at the time of Grier’s suspension.
At the time of the suspension, Grier led the Southeastern Conference with a 65.8-percent completion percentage and had 10 touchdown passes to just three interceptions.
Grier hasn’t been at practice since being handed the suspension, with McElwain saying Grier was focusing on the appeal process and his academics.
Despite the ability to return and compete for the job again, one which he wouldn’t be allowed to play until October 15, 2016 against Missouri, sources are telling FightinGators.com that Grier will likely transfer to another program. With Harris, the Florida clinched the SEC East, but the offense struggled mightily down the stretch.
The No. 19 Gators play No. 17 MI in the Citrus Bowl on January 1.
