Clinton calls for gun measures
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said Friday the mass killing in California heightened the need for intelligence sharing, military strikes in places where extreme elements have taken hold and a prohibition of gun purchases by those on terror watch lists.
“Killers… murderers should not have been able to do this”, Hillary Clinton said on the campaign trail Thursday in New Hampshire.
“The documents contain an email passed to Clinton in the days following the Benghazi attack in which the father of alleged Army deserter Bowe Bergdahl anguishes over the “‘Crusade’ paradigm” which he says “will never be forgotten in this part of the world”.
As details of the attack became clearer Thursday, including the size of an arsenal of weapons stockpiled by the couple who opened fire in the center, Clinton said, “It’s becoming clearer that we are dealing with an act of terrorism”. “We must authorize resources for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to study and research the causes and effects of gun violence in the United States of America”, the Facebook post said. “We can go after terrorists and we need to do more to save the lives of Americans every single day from homicide, suicide and these bad accidents”. She leads in national polls.
But Florida’s rich Democratic donors continue to pull Clinton back, and lurking beneath her primary dominance is another set of poll numbers that are more worrisome for the Clinton campaign. Clinton told the crowd that when she hears from children, she is often asked about this issue.
Clinton delivered her remarks before hundreds of enthusiastic supporters crowded into a gymnasium who waved signs in English and Spanish. As to whether or not this political revolution of which Sanders speaks is possible, I really don’t know.
“I join with those calling for a federal investigation into the practices of the Chicago Police Department”, the Sanders campaign said in a statement.
Law enforcement officers search for the suspects of a mass shooting December 2, 2015, in San Bernardino, California.
“If you are too unsafe to fly in America, you are too risky to buy a gun”.
Although she has rebounded from a September slump that had her at just 44 percent support, Clinton has yet to stem the meteoric rise of her rival, an independent senator from Vermont whose policies and principles have been consistent since he marched on Washington for jobs and justice with Martin Luther King, Jr.
Republicans, in turn, said Clinton’s nod to gun control was misplaced.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Clinton’s biggest challenger for the Democratic nomination so far, has gotten fewer endorsements while progressive groups have been tepid about endorsing anyone in the presidential race.
“They’re giving her a lot of room to play with, fighting among themselves”, Ayers said.
