Chelsea pulled trigger too early on Mourinho – Bilic
Sheffield Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal admits that Jose Mourinho leaving is a loss to Chelsea and English football.
Jose Mourinho’s legacy will be hard to match but Chelsea must act soon and find someone suitable to replace “The Chosen One”.
Slaven Bilic is confident Jose Mourinho would have stopped the rot at Chelsea and has questioned the decision to axe him.
There will be also be plenty of focus on the Stamford Bridge stands, where Chelsea’s fans had remained loyal to Mourinho right until the bitter end.
Former Chelsea player and assistant manager Wilkins does not believe Mourinho should have been sacked on Thursday but, having worked under Hiddink last time, Wilkins believes the Dutchman is the only short-term choice.
Guus Hiddink appeared to be the front-runner to take the helm and reprise the caretaker manager role he filled after Luiz Felipe Scolari was sacked in 2009. If I’m being realistic that won’t happen but one can dream, can’t they?
Hiddink pledged to hear Chelsea’s offer in full before deciding whether to accept the challenge, suggesting first team coach Steve Holland could take charge of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Sunderland at Stamford Bridge.
