Filmmaker Michael Moore’s Smart Response To Donald Trump’s Proposal To Ban Muslims
Moore reminded Trump of the principles of equality and freedom of religious belief that the United States stands for, adding that if he wants to ban Muslims, he will have to ban him and everyone else.
Referring to comments Mr Trump made about parts of London being closed off to the police, Keith Vaz, the Labour chair of the committee, said Mr Trump was “not just any old person from the mid-west of the United States”. “To all of our Muslim friends throughout the world, like the King of Jordan and the President of Egypt, I am sorry”.
The Oscar victor (and staunch Democrat) has been mostly quiet throughout the months of constant presidential debates and polling, outside of the occasional tweet, but while in DC to screen his movie this week, he and others from the audience walked to the front of the Republican National Committee headquarters to sing Donald Trump-themed Christmas carols. “Not just the ones who have killed, but ALL MUSLIMS”.
Trump, as a political dramatician does, shot to fame over night by evoking anti-Islamic sentiments of majority Christian people of U.S. and Europe and elsewhere and is hopeful of getting elected to White House as a Republican.
It sets the city apart from some very divisive talk going on in American politics. We can’t be scared of people who are different from us.
David Cameron has said a Trump visit would “unite” the UK against him. “This is not the St. Paul we want to live in”. Trump said the government must work with “brilliant people” in Silicon Valley to keep IS fighters offline, even if it means shutting down parts of the Internet. He also asks people to post a photo holding a sign with the hashtag #WeAreAllMuslim on social media.
Moore, whose documentary Where To Invade Next opens on February 12, was responding to the presidential candidate’s recent proposal to ban all Muslims from entering the country in light of the terrorist shooting in San Bernardino, California. He said, “We should be able to penetrate the Internet and find out exactly where ISIS is”.
Trump’s continued success may not be surprising.
Mrs May said Mr Trump was “absolutely wrong” about this. Honestly, we give this one to Moore.
