Sanders raised more than $1M after data breach, aide says
Vermont Senator and Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders’ campaign is playing defense after a staffer was accused of accessing a Democratic Party database that was supposed to be off limits.
The disclosure on Friday that four members of Sanders’ team improperly accessed voter information compiled by Clinton’s campaign shook up what had been a relatively civil race.
The DNC temporarily stripped the Sanders campaign of access to the voter database, and the Sanders campaign shot back that the DNC was trying to “undermine” his bid for the White House.
At the center of the dispute is an extensive trove of voter information maintained by the DNC.
“That’s what we’re investigating, and we’ll take it wherever it goes”, Weaver told ABC News ahead of tonight’s Democratic presidential debate.
“This was a very egregious breach, and our data was stolen”. This is a make or break moment for Sanders, who has been losing a little bit of footing as of late. But they are not going to sabotage our campaign, one of the strongest grassroots campaigns in modern history.
On Friday, Sanders’ campaign filed a lawsuit against the Democratic Party after the DNC blocked the campaign’s access to sensitive voter information.
A copy of the lawsuit filed with a federal court in Washington showed that the agreement between Democratic candidates to use a shared computer system for voter registration and supporter data included a provision requiring campaigns to be notified of any changes in access 10 days in advance.
KIMT News 3- One day before the 3rd Democratic National Debate, Democratic Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders’ campaign is taking heat.
DNC Chairwoman Wasserman-Schultz says “It’s baffling to me that they would be hurling accusations at us”. This was likely an attempt by the Democratic National Committee to smooth Hillary Clinton’s path to the nomination.
So even if the DNC is bending the will of the Clinton campaign, it’s making idiotic decisions about how to do that.
“He’s got to refocus Democrats onto his issue ground”, said Paul Maslin, a Democratic pollster unaffiliated with either campaign.
“Unfortunately, yesterday, the vendor once again dropped the firewall between the campaigns for some data”, Briggs said.
On Wednesday, staff associated with the Sanders camp apparently tapped into a database that contained voter profiles associated with Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
Weaver suggested further favoritism when pointed out that the DNC has scheduled few debates for the party candidates, and most of the debates were scheduled for the weekend, when viewership is low and any risk to Clinton can be minimized.
Although Bernie Sanders has plenty of homegrown support around the country, he still isn’t competing on a national level with Hillary Clinton.
