Sanders apologizes to Clinton, supporters for data breach
Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont said prescribers and drug companies “have to start getting their act together”.
“They will be our early warning signal”, Clinton said.
Later Friday, the Clinton camp struck a more conciliatory tone, issuing a statement in which Fallon said that his campaign was hopeful the matter would be resolved Friday night and that the Sanders team would get access to its voter files “right away”.
Still, the data breach appeared likely to overshadow the candidates’ policy discussions in some voters’ minds.
The battle produced no debate sparks: Sanders, prodded by Muir, frankly apologized to Clinton, then to his own supporters.
Clinton quickly accepted the apology saying, “We should move on because I don’t think the American people are interested in this”.
Mr Sanders was strong on his key issues- reforming health care, campaign finance and Wall Street- but was bested by Mrs Clinton during foreign policy segments. Bernard Sanders, who accused her of being too ready to oust foreign leaders without knowing what comes next – such as her support for unseating Libyan strongman Moammar Gadhafi.
“The United States at the same time can not successfully fight Assad and ISIS”, he said.
“We should move on”, said Clinton. Sanders fired a staffer for accessing the data.
With just six weeks until the Iowa caucuses, Clinton’s two rivals are running out of time to blunt her momentum.
While the Democrats united against Trump, Sanders clashed at length with Clinton over how to tackle extremism, opposing her call for a no-fly zone over Syria and for focusing on ousting that country’s President Bashar al-Assad.
Sanders also targeted traditional U.S. Gulf allies Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
He says the enduring symbol of the U.S.is not a barbed wire fence but the Statue of Liberty.
The three candidates demonstrated sharp differences with Republicans, particularly Donald Trump, showing sympathy for allowing some Syrian refugees into this country, decrying blanket suspicion of Muslims, and endorsing curbs on gun ownership.
The former Maryland governor further blasted Clinton on the issue of financial regulations, accusing her of “trying to hide her relationship with Wall Street big banks by invoking the attacks of 9/11” in the last debate.
Clinton says Democrats have “a lot of work to do” to explain where their party stands to voters.
It didn’t take long for the controversy over Hillary Clinton’s voter data to come up in Saturday night’s Democratic debate, as Bernie Sanders denounced the Democratic National Committee for “arbitrarily” shutting off his campaign’s access to the database, while also apologizing to Clinton.
Clinton shot back that Sanders had supported a congressional resolution calling for Gadhafi’s removal in Libya. This is not the type of campaign that we run. “I want the “Buffett rule” to be in effect, where millionaires have to pay 30%”, said Hillary Clinton while Bernie Sanders listens on screen in the media filing center. One staffer was sacked.
Sanders’ campaign filed a lawsuit against the DNC.
