Bernie Sanders’ access to DNC voter data restored
All three Democratic presidential candidates – front-runner Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and Martin O’Malley – focused significant time attacking Donald Trump at a debate in New Hampshire.
When the broadcast returned, former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley was seen walking back to his podium, Sen. That message seemed to be “that there is a clash of civilizations, that there is some kind of western plot or even war against Islam, which then I believe fans the flames of radicalization”, said Clinton.
“When Governor O’Malley was heading the Democratic Governors Association he had no trouble at all going to Wall Street to raise money to run campaigns for Democratic governors”, she said.
As Muir was asking his question, Clinton strode back onstage to applause. “It’s ISIS”, added Sanders, calling for the U.S.to work in a “broad coalition, including Russian Federation, to destroy” the group.
According to Sanders, Clinton is an interventionist who would have Americans charging into entanglements overseas without enough consideration for what comes next. “When we look at these complex questions I wish it could be either-or”, she said. It came as Clinton has solidified her standing atop the field, shaking off a rocky start and the controversy about her use of private email at the State Department.
The Sanders campaign on Friday filed a lawsuit against the Democratic National Committee in a federal court to restore its access to the voter data.
“If the United States does not lead, there is not another leader – there is a vacuum”, she said.
“Tell Qatar, instead of spending $200 billion on the World Cup, maybe they should pay attention to ISIS, which is on their doorstep”, said Bernie Sanders. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, defended his support of a plan for to guarantee paid family leave that would result in a modest payroll tax increase for all workers.
The three candidates demonstrated sharp differences with Republicans, particularly Donald Trump, showing sympathy for allowing some Syrian refugees into this country, decrying blanket suspicion of Muslims, and endorsing curbs on gun ownership.
Clinton accepted Sanders’ apology afterwards, and agreed that the best way to move forward was with an independent inquiry to ensure the data problem was officially resolved.
O’Malley accused his rivals of being too soft on gun control.
Clinton took issue with claims that arming Americans will make the country safer from terrorists, saying the U.S.is already losing too many people to gun-related violence. “Yeah regime change is easy, getting rid of regime change is easy, but … what happens the day after?”
Clinton said in the third Democratic debate that she understands people are fearful after the attacks in Paris and San Bernardino.
Previously Sanders had struggled to draw a substantive contrast between Hillary and himself beyond her vote to go to war with Iraq years ago.
