“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” Earns Record Thursday Night
Star Wars frenzy has swept the celeb world with anyone and everyone getting involved. This handily breaks the previous record set by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, which had held since 2011 at $43.5 million. The long-awaited sequel first debuted with Thursday Night Previews.
The Force Awakens also beat the record for Thursday night previews by taking in $57 million. The movie has opened in 44 countries outside North America, earning US$72.7 million in total through Thursday.
