Nicki Minaj Testifies For Meek Mill
The 28-year-old rapper, born Robert Williams, hopes to avoid going back to jail over a 2009 drug and gun conviction.
“He pulled a few strings to get it to her on her birthday and when he knew she’d received it, he jokingly text her and told her that every time she puts it on her lips she better be thinking about him”, a source claimed.
The rapper was in a Philadelphia court room today (Dec. 17) to take the stand in front of Judge Genece Brinkley in order to address his recent parole violations, the Associated Press reports.
“I’m not a gangsta”.
“I hang in clubs, people from the hood, the streets, where people are not about the same things as me”, he said. “I’m trying to do better and I feel like I can be the best rapper out there”.
Brinkley sent Mill back to jail for five months previous year for similar violations.
However, she postponed sentencing until early next year (16) and ordered Mill not to perform any shows or leave Pennsylvania in the meantime. He could face several years in prison for violating his probation and that could also lead to the demise of his relationship with Nicki Minaj. “If you didn’t give me a chance, I probably wouldn’t be at this place I’m at now”.
Minaj said she’d also help Mill fulfill his required community service. “Since I’ve come in his life, I think I’ve been working on that a little bit….”
Elsewhere in his testimony, Meek talked about not being able to visit his mother in New Jersey after a surgery, due to travel restrictions in his probation.
Last year, a federal jury rejected a lawsuit he filed against Philadelphia police over what he called a racially-motivated, 10-hour traffic stop that led him to miss the launch party for his 2012 debut album, “Dreams & Nightmares”.
TMZ reported that Meek Milly shed tears while telling the judge that he is not a gangster and is no criminal.
