One Injured after Shooting at East Towne Mall in Madison
Madison Police say one person was shot in the leg during a disturbance inside East Towne Mall.
Our sister station in Madison, NBC 15, states East Towne Mall has been declared secure as of 3:39 p.m.
The East Towne Mall’s website said, “The mall is temporarily closed due to a safety concern”.
A man who witnessed the shooting tells 27 News it appears a man was shot inside the mall and he saw first responders doing CPR. One among them pulled out a handgun and fired. He was transported to a hospital with a non life-threatening wound.
Police is looking for a suspect saying it was either not an act of terrorism or the person involved was not an active shooter.
DeSpain also said that a mall employee’s leg was hit by a bullet that had ricocheted, though the worker was unscathed.
DeSpain says: “My understanding is it was a chaotic scene”.
A Twitter user identifying himself as Tyler Schiller said “someone yelled gun and we just ran”. Police said the people fighting knew each other. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article.
