Jets still alive with win in Dallas
Jets head coach Todd Bowles said: “It’s good to string some games together”.
“We talked about it early in the game, he came up to me”, Fitzpatrick said.
“The good teams win the ugly games”, Bowles said.
“We’re on our way to becoming one of those types of teams if we can keep it up”.
Still, there was time for Bullock to have his say and win a fourth-straight game for the Jets – the first time they managed such a feat since 2010. Even if the Jets win their final two regular season games – New England (11-2) and at Buffalo (6-7) – they will be on the outside looking in if the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers also win out because of the three-way tiebreaker scenario.
NY quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick moved the offense 58 yards, most of it coming on a 43-yard strike to receiver Kenbrell Thompkins down the sideline. A series of running plays set up Bullock’s game-deciding kick. “I’m not going to change over night, so we’ll see what happens”.
NY quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick completed 26 of 39 passes for 299 yards, with one touchdown and one interception.
Marshall caught four passes for 74 yards to give him 93 receptions on the season, breaking Al Toon’s single-season team record. “We just have to make sure we’re ready for when the time comes”.
Golfer Jordan Spieth, left, talks with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo before the Cowboys’ NFL football game against the New York Jets on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, in Arlington, Texas. It is the team’s fifth game with multiple interceptions this season.
“We all start with aspirations”, said Jason Garrett, who had already clinched his first losing season as Dallas coach. “But that doesn’t diminish the work everyone has put in”.
Fitzpatrick was inconsistent for much of three quarters, and it didn’t help that both Decker and Marshall left briefly with injuries.
The Jets found a way to eke out the victory.
“Certainly there were good things, there were bad things”, Moore said, according to The Dallas Morning News.
No, Moore is probably not a future starting quarterback for the Cowboys – or for any other team, for that matter. Cowboys RB Darren McFadden had 100 yards on 16 carries his fifth 100-yard game of the season….
The Jets defense came out a little shaky, allowing a field goal on the opening drive. Revis had an interception in the first half against Cowboys starter Matt Cassel, who had lost his balance on the play and tried to throw the ball away. One of Moore’s most talked about passes during the game was to Cowboys’ Barry Church. On the the last, he threw essentially a Hail Mary – about the only way the Cowboys were going to get into field-goal range at that point.
The Cowboys came out aggressive on the game’s opening drive, using misdirection plays like an end around to receiver Lucky Whitehead that went for 33 yards. Dallas tied it with a field goal before Bullock redeemed himself with the last-minute kick.
On the next possession, Cassel gave NY a gift.
This was another game full of turnovers for the Cowboys. The Jets didn’t stall on their next march. Thompkins remains a low-volume role player in the Jets’ offense as the No. 4 wideout behind Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker, and Quincy Enunwa, with Bilal Powell also squarely in the mix for targets.
