Jimmy Carter’s Grandson, Jeremy Carter, Has Died At 28

The 91-year-old former President formally announced the news source while teaching a Sun. school class at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains. In August Jimmy Carter was diagnosed with brain cancer; doctors found four melanoma lesions on his brain after they removed another from his liver. It was the first time he had ever been tardy, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Officials with the Carter Center, a nonprofit founded by the former president to promote peace and health, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. He officially passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning. The cause of death is still unclear.

Carter, a former peanut farmer, served as USA president from 1977 to 1981, losing his reelection bid to Ronald Reagan.

“I finally said, ‘Well Jeremy, everybody’s going to die someday, ‘” Carter recalled.

Churchgoes at Marantha Church described Jeremy Carter as a “great, fun-loving guy”, who visited his grandparents in Plains, Georgia as often as he could.

Carter told the congregation Sunday that Jeremy Carter wasn’t feeling well Saturday and chose to take a nap; when his mother later checked on him his heart had stopped.

The past few months have been very emotional for the Carter family.
