Ryan Fitzpatrick makes his case for Jets encore in 2016

Memo to Ryan Fitzpatrick; throw high and throw often. Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and star wide-out Brandon Marshall have been in the league for a combined 21 seasons in the NFL, but neither have made a trip to the post-season. In his last three games – also, since he trimmed his bushy beard – Fitzpatrick is 79 of 123 for 930 yards and nine touchdowns with no interceptions for a passer rating of 111.5.

Marshall (89 catches for 1,187 yards and 11 touchdowns) is four catches shy of tying the single-season franchise record set by Al Toon in 1988 and is on pace for 1,472 yards, which would break Don Maynard’s record by 38 yards, and 14 touchdowns, which would tie Maynard and Powell for the best mark in team history. It has been a truly magical season for the nomadic Fitzpatrick who may have finally found a home with Gang Green. Marshall has been utterly unbelievable for the Jets all season long. Marshall is having a great first season with the Jets, as he has totaled 89 receptions, 1,187 receiving yards, and 11 receiving touchdowns.

Marshall smiled on Tuesday as he showed off his present intended for Fitzpatrick, a copy of Keyshawn Johnson’s old book, “Just Give Me the Damn Ball!”.

The Jets will take it if his play continues this way.

The offense and defense struggled equally in a 30-8 loss to the Jets. During the Jets mid-season slide nobody’s stock took a hit as bad as the defense’s did.

“So there’s a lot of different things that go into it, but I think it’s pretty cool that it’s happened that way and they’re doing something that nearly nobody else has really done before”. To their collective credit they have stayed mentally strong and held together enough to once again be a force for this team. The Jets are seven-point favorites but don’t count the Titans out. Wilkerson actually looked like the best player on the field on Sunday – or at least tied with Marshall – because the man in front of him was totally over matched.

“The guy is fast”, said TE Delanie Walker, “I think he is just going to get better, especially next year when he is all settled in and understands the philosophy of the offense”. Both teams have quarterbacks playing at high levels though only NY is making a playoffs push.

So the Titans are coming off a win, a bit win in which they put up 42 points, but they also allowed 39 points and the Jets should be favored in this one. The Chiefs and Jets are technically the wild cards at the moment due to the conference record tiebreaker. The team was flat, couldn’t tackle anyone and with the headsets going out at one time and not being able to call a play from the booth to the field, left a receiver uncovered that Jurrell Casey had to run down.

With temperatures an unseasonably warm 68 degrees at kickoff, the Jets got off to a roaring start. Those teams include: the New England Patriots, the Oakland Raiders, the Cleveland Browns, and the Indianapolis Colts. Meanwhile, the Steelers go against Denver, followed by the Ravens and the Bills.
