Rebecca Sapp/WireImage Scott Weiland was found dead in his tour bus on December 3. Police investigating the death of the late Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman apparently haven’t been able to verify who owned the illegal substances found on their shared tour bus.
Scott Weiland’s death was caused by a “toxic mixture of drugs”, according to authorities from Minnesota’s Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The singer was 48 years old and had been a part of music industry since last three decades.
He rose to fame with Stone Temple Pilots, which became one of the most commercially successful bands to come out of the early 1990s grunge rock movement.

In 1995, he was arrested after deputies found him carrying crack and heroin. Black shared Alternative Nation’s article on Bloomington Deputy Police Chief Mike Hartley announcing that they would not pursue drug charges against him because it was too hard to prove the drugs belonged to him. Scott’s series of possessing drugs and tours to rehabilitation facilities, resulted in cancellation of several shows of the Stone Temple Pilots. Weiland’s ex-wife, meanwhile, later penned an open letter documenting his struggles, asking fans not to “glorify this tragedy“.
