Peaky Peake struggles to find his space legs
In a related report by the Inquisitr, Tim Peake recently made history as the first British astronaut to fly to the International Space Station (ISS) as a member of the European Space Agency (ESA).
Major Peake was delivered to the ISS on Tuesday (AEDT) along with a Russian and an American astronaut after the blasting off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. This week, Science and Universities Minister, Jo Johnson, said he wants to make Britain the European hub for commercial space travel and scientific exploration.
Wearing his space suit, Major Peake pressed himself up against a window of the bus taking him to the launch pad and blew kisses and played fist bumps with his sons. It is is said the station’s mission managers are trying to determine when the NASA astronauts can fix this reported problem. Developed under a public-private partnership, the Bigelow Expandable Activity Module (BEAM) is an expandable habitat technology demonstration for the International Space Station. Analyzing these microbes can help determine whether some are more virulent in space, and which genetic changes might be involved in this response.
When asked how he’s adapted to his new lifestyle, he said: “I’ve been amazed at how quickly my body has adapted”. His work timetable even includes a day’s housekeeping: Saturday is the day that astronauts vacuum and wipe down the space station’s surfaces. NASA announced Friday that it will send astronauts on an unscheduled spacewalk from the U.S. Quest airlock on the International Space Station just days before the holiday.
“We always talk about seeing the view of planet Earth and how lovely it is and you come to expect that”. It was as if – after decades of listening to Space Oddity – we were finally getting to experience it for ourselves (albeit, I trust, with a more positive ending).
“Hi From #ISS”, tweeted Mr. Peake, a former helicopter pilot, on December 16.
Major Peake said he was “delighted and thrilled” at the phenomenal support he had received from people around the world, including a message from the Queen. As we all know, he arrived just yesterday, and won’t be coming back home for another six months. We hope the newest “Star Wars” film is to your liking and may the Force be with you.
He will used the treadmill for the first time over the weekend, and over the coming months will train so that he can run April’s London Marathon in space. “A little bit later than everybody else, but what a spectacular place to watch Star Wars”.
