Congressman cites differences in LA, NY threats
Two school districts outside Indianapolis canceled classes Thursday after officials said threats were made against their schools, but many other districts across the country say they received threats that were less than credible, and classes will go on as planned.
“He said the email included all Los Angeles Unified schools and mentioned explosive devices, ‘assault rifles and machine pistols'”.
The move to have police officers in schools today comes out of “an abundance of caution”, Beck said. Several members of the school board received the threat as well, LAPD Chief Charlie Beck said.
Officials spent Tuesday evaluating an e-mailed risk, and reasoned that it was “not credible”, according to Mayor Eric Garcetti.

On Wednesday, ABC 7 and KTLA 5 both published the emailed threat in full, which claimed to be from a former student of a LAUSD high school and devout Muslim who experienced bullying while there.

The source said the email was routed from Germany but may have originated elsewhere.
Bratton said the person who wrote the note claimed to be a jihadist but made errors that made it clear the person was a prankster.

Since the email did not specifically mention schools in San Diego, San Diego Unified School District directed FOX 5 to FBI investigators.
