DDCA Scam: Jaitley Loads Up With Legal Ammo Against Kejriwal & Co
Meanwhile, rejecting the charges against as “baseless and devoid of truth”, Jaitley today claimed the opposition Congress had spent much more than he did in renovating a stadium in Delhi. Top leaders of the BJP hit back, accusing AAP of attempting to reduce the stature of Jaitley in public life and hailed the finance minister for maintaining an “impeccable standard of probity”.
Besides Kejriwal, Jaitley has filed the complaint against AAP leaders – Kumar Vishwas, Ashutosh, Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha and Deepak Bajpai – for their alleged defamatory remarks.
He said Jaitley has filed a defamation case against AAP leaders but not against his own party MP.
The decisions were taken at a Cabinet meeting presided by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Our fight against corruption will continue: Arvind Kejriwal on Jaitley’s defamation suit.
The Finance Minister marches to court surrounded by BJP leaders even as the Delhi government launched an inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the DDCA.
BJP lawmaker and former cricketer Kirti Azad Monday openly dared his party senior Jaitley in tweets, a day after he stopped short of naming him while alleging corruption in the Delhi cricket body that the Finance Minister headed for 13 years.
“When this matter will come up for hearing, which is likely to come up tomorrow, we should oppose this case and should oppose any kind of stay order being granted by the court”, he added.
“AAP is using the route of defaming him (Jaitley) and his family members through namecalling in press conferences and the social media”, said the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.
Punia charged the Finance Minister with attempting to mislead Parliament that the Serious Frauds Investigation Office (SFIO) had not found him guilty of anything.
“Jaitley should not try to intimidate us with court cases.
Will BJP and Shri Arun Jaitley now adhere to the same goalpost?” party’s chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala asked.
He alleged that the DDCA gave out contracts to fake companies, paying them crores of rupees in cash, and had fudged the audit of accounts.
