Trump demands apology from Clinton on debate quip
At Saturday’s Democratic debate, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton challenged Republican frontrunner Donald Trump’s controversial comments with one of her own. “They are going to people showing them videos of Donald Trump insulting Islam and Muslims in order to recruit more radical jihadists”.
The conservative RedState.com also pointed out that an existing ISIS recruiting video actually shows an image of Bill Clinton – but not Trump.
Over the weekend, Trump fired back at his Democratic rival for claiming that Trump was “becoming ISIS’s best recruiter”, saying Islamic extremists were using Trump’s comments about Muslims and Islam as a recruiting tool. Clinton said, matter-of-factly, that Trump’s proposal to ban Muslims from entering the country is being used as an ISIS recruiting tool. “I say it again, I hate to say this because it’s blunt; she is a liar”. “She just made this up in thin air”.
“She lies like insane about everything”, Trump said.
Like Trump’s claim in that “thousands” of Muslims in America celebrated 9/11, this claim by Clinton was swiftly vetted by fact-checkers – and located to be missing concrete proof.
The report cites tweets from ISIS supporters, a supposed ISIS fighter, and a fighter for the al-Qaeda affiliate Jabhat al-Nusra.
For Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta, that’s enough to indicate that Trump is helping, not hurting, the jihadist group. I mean she made it up.
“There are very few analysts who have watched all of IS’s videos”, said counter-terrorism analyst Daveed Gartenstein-Ross. White House and National Security Council officials told ABC News they are unaware of any examples of ISIS including Trump in the terrorist group’s videos. “There’s no denying that”, he said.
