The system has entered the production stage, and Israel Air Force is expected to take possession of the system in the first quarter of 2016.
JERUSALEM-Hezbollah on Saturday announced the assassination of one of its most notorious commanders, Samir Kuntar, by Israeli jets, which rocketed a building on the outskirts of Damascus where he and other militants were staying.
Kuntar was convicted of carrying out one of the most daring attacks in Israeli history and spent almost three decades in an Israeli prison.
At the same time, UNIFIL is not ready to comment on the suspects of southern Lebanon rocket fire that hit northern Israel.
In November Defense Minister Moshe “Boogie” Ya’alon insisted that Russian Federation is aware that Israel may carry out airstrikes in Syria and that Moscow is committed to allowing Israel to take any necessary actions. Haran’s other daughters, Yael, age two, was accidentally smothered to death as she and her mother, Smadar, hid from the terrorists in the apartment’s crawl space.
A number of Syrians were also killed in the attack, he said.
Thousands of people chanted “death to Israel” as Hezbollah fighters in military uniforms carried Qantar’s coffin, which was wrapped by the group’s yellow flag, to a Shi’ite Muslim cemetery in its south Beirut stronghold where he was laid to rest.
Hezbollah’s Al-Manar TV said two Israeli warplanes that violated Syrian airspace fired four long-range missiles at the residential building in Jaramana. He was eventually returned to Lebanon in a form of a prisoner exchange.
Regardless of who fired the missile, Sayed Hassan Nasrallah, the secretary-general of Hezbollah, has already made his decision: this was Israel.
Kantar’s killing would mark the first Israeli assassination of a senior figure inside Syria since Russian Federation launched its military operations in Syria on September 30 in support of President Bashar Assad.
“With pride we mourn the martyrdom of the leader Samir Kuntar and we are honored to join families of martyrs”, Bassam Kantar said on his Facebook page.
The U.N. Security Council approved a resolution Friday endorsing a peace process that involves negotiations between the Syrian government and its opposition to establish a transitional authority. But the still divisive issue of what to do with the Syrian leader during the transition has not been spelled out, an issue that has potential to torpedo the entire diplomatic process. According to the State Department, Kantar has played an operational role, with the assistance of Iran and Syria, in building Hezbollah’s terrorist infrastructure in the Golan Heights.
Harel said often Israel did not claim responsibility for the attacks against Hezbollah targets, but recently Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel had undermined several weapons smuggling attempts to Hezbollah.
