Singer Scott Weiland’s death ruled an accident due to mix of drugs
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office also said heart disease and other health conditions linked to Weiland’s long history of drug abuse contributed to his death.
Officials have confirmed that Scott Weiland – former lead singer for the Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver – died of a drug overdose in early December.
Bloomington cops officers stated at the time in that that they had recovered a little quantity of cocaine from the band’s tour bus, where he was found lifeless.
Wildabouts guitarist Nick Maybury has posted more comments on his bandmate Scott Weiland’s tragic death in the last few days on Twitter in response to mourning fans. Weiland delivered hits for them. The band’s 1992 debut album Core sold eight million copies.
According to a press release obtained by Fox9 in Minneapolis, Weiland was killed by “mixed drug toxicity” and had evidence of multiple drugs in his system, including cocaine, ethanol, and ecstasy (MDA).
Weiland’s extraordinary career often was overshadowed by a constant battle with drug addiction. Stone Temple Pilots broke up in 2003, reunited in 2008 and split again in 2013. The former front man for the Stone Temple Pilots was due to tour with his new band the Wildabouts the next day. He also pleaded guilty to felony heroin possession in 1998.
