Bayern-bound Ancelotti is Champions League record man
Bayern confirmed Guardiola’s departure at the end of this season on Sunday.
Manchester City have been heavily linked with Guardiola, with rumours rife about Manuel Pellegrini’s future.
“We are grateful for everything Pep Guardiola has given for our club since 2013”.
Pep Guardiola has paved the way for a move to Manchester City next summer.
Ancelotti’s last position as a boss was Real Madrid, where he won the 2013/14 Champions League. “I am sure he will be very important for the club”.
Bayern are now eight points clear of second-placed Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, and will face Juventus in the Round of 16 of the Champions League.

The chairman called the Italian a “calm, balanced expert”, and one “who knows how to deal with stars and favours a multifaceted style of play”.
The 69-year-old coached Ancelotti, who will start work at the German champions in July, at Milan between 1987 and 1991 and added him to his backroom staff during his time with the Italy national team.
Ancelotti, 56, who has won the Champions League three times as a manager – twice with AC Milan and once with Real Madrid – has signed a three-year contract at Bayern, committing him to the German giants until 2019.
Pellegrini is adamant that he isn’t ready to wave the white flag on his own reign just yet, with 18 months still left on his contract and City still chasing four trophies this season.
Reflecting on the same, Pellegrini believes that the 44-year-old Spaniard would probably join City as he also wanted to work in Premier League.
“I honestly wish Bayern Munich and my friend Pep Guardiola the best for the current season”, Ancelotti said.
Reports this week suggested Guardiola had made the decision not to renew his contract with the reigning Bundesliga champions, who have now confirmed that he will indeed say farewell at the Allianz Arena in June 2016.
Guardiola is revered among Bayern fans for his knowledge of the game and his team’s ruthless efficiency that has seen them break several records en route to their last two league titles.
