Five Killed as Plane Crashes Into Almond Orchard in California
The wreckage of the plane was found in an orchard lying southwest of Bakersfield.
The plane became the subject of a search after disappearing from radar, Kern County sheriff’s Sgt. Mark King said, and federal authorities are investigating the cause.
The victims were identified as Jason and Olga Price, daughters Olivia, 9, Mary, 10, and son, John, 14, who flew out of San Jose to visit friends in Las Vegas.

A statement from the FAA said that the plane was traveling from Reid-Hillview Airport in San Jose, California, to Henderson Executive Airport, outside Las Vegas in Clark County, Nevada.
The plane disappeared from radar near Bakersfield around 4 p.m. Saturday, according to Ian Gregor from the Federal Aviation Administration. The debris from the aircraft were located three hours after the mayday call was received by the sheriff’s office at about 4:30 p.m. The Kern County Sheriff’s Office say a debris field spanning almost a quarter mile was found on Panama Lane and South Allen Road.
A sheriff’s officer said it may take a day or two to identify all of the plane debris before the investigation on the possible cause can begin.
