President Jimmy Carter`s grandson passes away
Former US President Jimmy Carter stands before a full sanctuary at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, Ga.to deliver tragic news ahead of his Sunday school class.
The former US President’s grandson, Jeremy Carter, died just days before Christmas while taking a nap after claiming he didn’t feel well. When his family attempted to wake him up a few hours later, his “heart had stopped beating”.
Carter said that Jeremy Carter, 28, wasn’t feeling well Saturday afternoon and went to lie down at his parents’ home. Attempts to revive Jeremy via CPR were unsuccessful.
“I’m not surprised”, Maranatha member Jan Williams told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Carter announced at the same church two weeks ago that he was cancer-free, four months after he revealed that his melanoma had spread from his liver to his brain.
“That’s the kind of Christian he is”.
Jeremy Shoulta told CNN how the tragedy unfolded.
Carter, 91, has battled cancer this year.
During his Sunday school class, Shoulta said Carter completed his lesson, but “it was apparent to everyone there that this was weighing on him very heavily”. There have been moments of great joy, of sadness, of grief. He continues to undergo regular treatment.
“(President Carter) was shaken.
