Bethesda Sued By Russian Fallout 4 Player Who Got Addicted
Fallout 4 might be super addicting, but if you don’t practice moderation, you might just find your life in shambles. The game launched to a very receptive audience, and despite complaints about graphics quality and glitches, most people have found the game quite enjoyable.
Earlier this year, a man died at a Taiwanese internet cafe after apparently having played a game for roughly three days straight. Bethesda has already confirmed that Fallout 4 will be getting DLC at some point, so all of this speculation certainly isn’t out of the question. Unfortunately, his employers disagreed and chose to fire him for his repeated absences. The man ended up getting fired, and his wife left him. He claims he was so addicted that he couldn’t even make time to eat or sleep. Let us know what you think in the comments. “I would not have bought it, or I would have left it until I was on holiday or until the New Year holidays”, a statement from the man read”.
The case may sound frivolous, it isn’t unprecedented in any way.
It is one thing to lose a weekend or two binge-playing epic games like Bethesda Game Studio’s Fallout 4, but one man lost a little more than that thanks to his addiction to the studio’s hugely successful post-apocalyptic shooter.
Back in 2010, a Hawaiian gamer attempted to sue NCSoft, the makers of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game Lineage II, claiming that the developers failed to warn him of the game’s addictive nature (he played over 20,000 hours over five years).
A judge agreed to hear the case, but it was eventually dismissed with prejudice.
