Bad-boy pharma CEO Shkreli calls fraud charges ‘baseless’
On Friday Pharma CEO Martin Shkreli Arrested For Securities Fraud was a top story. Previously Hillary Clinton, the frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination, pilloried him for price-gouging, and he was pulled into congressional investigations into drug pricing.
“The Directors of Retrophin replaced Martin Shkreli as Chief Executive Officer more than a year ago because of serious concerns about his conduct”.
In a statement Friday, Turing said that Tilles will continue to hold the board chairman position as well.
“We remain committed to ensuring that all patients have ready and affordable access to Daraprim”, he said.
He has actively defended his business practices on Twitter, tweeting as recently as Saturday that the allegations against him were “baseless”.
He was yanked out of his Murray Hill apartment in handcuffs Thursday, charged with lying to investors and misappropriating $11 million from his former pharmaceutical company.
A Twitter spokesman said the company did not comment on individual accounts for privacy and security reasons.
An indictment said Shkreli and others orchestrated three interrelated scams from September 2009 through September 2014. The third was Walter Blum, who is based in Switzerland where the company also has offices, according to the website.
Wearing a purple PBS T-shirt and plaid pajama bottoms, Shkreli, 32, responded to commenters on the stream.
Nasdaq has placed KaloBios’ stock on a trading halt until the company provides more information.
Just a day after being freed on $5 million bail, Shkreli was right back in his comfort zone – sitting in front of a Web cam on his YouTube channel. “Thanks for the support”.
