James White emerging as another option for Pats
The 52 players on the Patriots’ sideline were cheering for someone else – Joey Iosefa. Iosefa (pronounced Yo-SE-fa) didn’t get into the end zone, but did have perhaps the highlight of the day when he flattened Titans cornerback Coty Sensabaugh like roadkill and rumbled for 15 yards.
“I said after the game, when you play a football season, six or seven months, you’re dealing with a lot of life stuff, too”. You always learn lessons through all the challenging times you go through.
It’s unlikely Iosefa will forget his.
Martin has been on and off the roster all season.
White has 21 catches in the past three games. But they had another lapse on a Walker catch over the middle, which might have been halted for a short gain, but Jon Bostic collided with Patrick Chung to sabotage the tackle attempt and allow Walker to race away for a 57-yard score.
Branch said he became so excited after that run that he ran onto the field. “But he definitely showed everybody out there”. “I was excited. The young guy did great out there”. “Just do my job”. He is on the roster because LeGarrette Blount is not.
Iosefa (pronounced YO-sef-ah) was promoted from the team’s practice squad Saturday to add a third layer of depth at running back alongside Brandon Bolden (29 snaps vs. Tennessee) and White (23 snaps). The 6-foot-2, 250-pounder, entered the National Football League as a rookie free agent with New Orleans out of Nebraska on April 28, 2013.
He said he was ready.
“I’m playing for everybody that helped me out throughout this whole process”, Iosefa told KITV. Honestly, I don’t wake up many mornings and, ‘Woe is me.’ I look around and just try to have empathy for people that are in other obviously challenging situations. “It felt good to hit somebody beside my own teammates”. The Patriots signed former Denver Broncos running back Montee Ball to their practice squad on Tuesday. He was released by Tampa Bay on August 30, 2015.
“He’s a grinder, hard-working kid”, said Belichick. “He’s gotten in a lot better shape since he’s been here, dropped a little weight, worked hard”.
Everyone on the team, said Matthew Slater, is happy for Iosefa. “He’s got a good heart and I think everybody on the team is just happy to see him do well”. He didn’t feel he did anything special to warrant the attention.
“He’s a tough guy to handle with the ball in his hands”.
Next week, he might be back on the practice squad. It wasn’t ideal. He did what we asked him to do.
