Bill Cosby sues model Beverly Johnson over drugging claim
The comedian has been under fire since last year when dozens of women began to step forward, alleging that Bill had sexually assaulted them years ago.
The Associated Press reports that Joseph Cammarata, a lawyer for the seven women behind the suit, subpoenaed Camille to be deposed on January 6 at a hotel in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Bill Cosby is suing Beverly Johnson, one of the women he allegedly attempted to assault, for defamation.
The Cosby lawyer’s efforts to get a deposition from Camille Cosby is the latest development to occur since Bill Cosby filed a countersuit against the women last week, accusing them of making false allegations of sexual misconduct for financial gain.
Cosby representative Monique Pressley said in a statement that “Mr. Cosby states that he never drugged defendant and her story is a lie”.
Cosby’s attorneys on Friday asked a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit by Renita Hill, who lives near Pittsburgh and has accused the comedian of drugging and having sex with her several times after they met on a children’s educational TV show in 1983.
But Cosby’s attorneys say those statements don’t refer to Hill by name or otherwise specifically and even if they did, amount to protected speech. Cosby motioned for me to come over to him as though we were really about to act out the scene.
Cosby, 78, has yet to respond publicly to Hill’s allegations that he drugged and had sex with her several times after they met on the TV show, “Picture Pages”, in 1983.
But she contends statements from Cosby and his camp – including a statement given to the Washington Post the day after her KDKA interview by Cosby attorney Martin Singer – pertain to her.
As the Inquisitr reported, Beverly Johnson accused Cosby of drugging her in the 80s.
This lawsuit comes days after Cosby’s team filed another defamation suit against a number of other alleged victims in MA, including Tamara Green, Therese Serignese, Linda Traitz, Louisa Moritz, Barbara Bowman, Joan Tarshis and Angela Leslie.
Nevertheless, Cosby’s lawyers expressed that Camille Cosby does not have any information about the accuracy of the women’s allegations.
