Bristol City sign striker Jonathan Kodjia for about £2m
Jonathan Kodjia has joined Bristol City, the club have announced.
He is Bristol City’s new £2 million striker that the Ashton Gate club want to score the goals that will help them survive their first season in the Championship.
Kodjia has signed a three-year deal with the option of a further 12 months.
“A towering forward standing at 6’3”, Kodjia netted 15 goals during the 2014-15 season for now-Ligue 1 side Angers with the club earning automatic promotion.
The Frenchman collected last term’s Ligue 2 Player of the Year award.
Kodjia began his career with Reims and enjoyed loan spells with Cherbourg, Amiens and Caen before switching to Angers in 2014.
“When you look at the striker market out there now some of the prices quoted are completely out of our reach and unrealistic, so to get Jonathan at the price we have we feel is good business”.
“I am very happy to be here and to meet the manager and the staff”, he told the club’s official website.
The 25-year-old said that he has done some research on the club and thus he knows about their “big fanbase, the players and the city“, all of which have impressed him.
