Madison mall reopens following shooting
Police say they interviewed more than 30 witnesses by the end of Sunday, involving a fight between two groups on Saturday at Madison’s East Towne Mall.
Dane County Communications confirms to 27 News that shots were fired at the mall but didn’t have any other details to release at this time.
Armed police have been seen running through the mall while stores were on lockdown and shoppers were evacuated.
A 19-year-old man, believed to be part of the initial disturbance, was shot in the leg. He tells The Associated Press: “This is not an active shooter”.

Madison police say that the immediate area where the shooting took place will be cordoned off for a while because of the investigation.
“There was a lot panic at the time, around 3 p.m….”
Madison police later tweeted that the mall was expected to reopen shortly.
“We do have an incident right now and police are on the scene”.
The incident comes on one of the busiest shopping days of the season as the final Saturday before Christmas. The FBI is investigating the case as an act of terrorism.
