Christmas, New Year’s closings announced
The library will be open from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday, closed on Friday and the Central Library only will be open Saturday.
The Buddy Holly Center and Silent Wings Museum will both be closed Thursday, December 24 and Friday, December 25. The newspaper offices will close to the public at 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve day.
Sumrall city offices are closed Thursday, Friday and January 1.
The Flat Rock Village Hall will be closed Wednesday through Friday in observance of Christmas and again on January 1 in observance of New Year’s Day.
No trash or recycling collections will be made on either day and service will be delayed by one day; so the usual Friday collections will be made on Saturdays.
The U.S. post office will be open regular hours and make regular deliveries on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
In observance of the Christmas holiday, most Toledo, county, state, and federal government offices will be closed or on a half-day Thursday and all day Friday, Christmas Day.
In addition, the transfer station and convenience center will be closed on Friday, January 1, 2016 and will reopen on Saturday, January 2 with regular hours. Administrative offices and schools will re-open January 4, with teacher workdays planned for January 4-5. Also, Dec. 31 will have a normal trash pickup schedule. Portland offices will close at noon on December 31.
Harrison County: Garbage will not be picked up Christmas Day.
William Carey University is closed through January 3. The Business Mail Entry Unit, claims and inquiry and the passport service will be closed on Thursday and Friday. Residents with cart collection, are asked to place carts out before 7 a.m. on these days.
