Troops Kill ‘Notorious’ Boko Haram Kingpin, Members In Borno – Nigerian Army
Nigeria’s military says troops freed 338 captives, mainly children and women, in raids on Boko Haram camps in northeast Nigeria.
In Nigeria alone, approximately 600 teachers have been killed in the six-year insurgency waged by Boko Haram.
Defence Secretary Michael Fallon said the number of British troops training local soldiers would be doubled to 300 during the next 12 months.
President Muhammadu Buhari had told Mr Fallon that his administration was taking urgent and appropriate actions to restore order, due process and probity to the procurement processes of the nation’s Armed Forces.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Monday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the imaginary figures were part of the ISIS’ strategy to shore up the morale of its dispersed and defeated fellow-terrorists in Nigeria. BMATT has also grown in size since the government announced previous year that the United Kingdom would increase its training and capacity building in Nigeria, ” it said in a statement. Moreover, assistance in countering improvised explosive devices, as well as medical training and advice will be provided.
“Apart from these fake figures, we are aware of the planned release of old videos of Boko Haram attacks in Nigeria through the terrorists’ preferred channel to give the impression that they have continued to carry out spectacular attacks”. The reinforcements amount to a recognition of the failure so far to deal with Boko Haram at a regional level. “Stepping up our training efforts will help support the armed forces of Nigeria for crucial counter-insurgency operations”.
Spokesman of the Nigeria army, Colonel Sani Usman Kukashek, who confirmed the incident said it happened at about “8.30pm when 3 suspected suicide bombers ranging from 10 to 15 years went into Benisheikh, Borno State. The Ameer was notorious in terrorizing Bale, Wass and Mufurundi villages”, he stated.
Usman said that as the suspects were being screened, the explosives were detonated.
