Eagles’ Kelly denies calling McCoy
BRADFORD’S BACK: Sam Bradford returned after missing 2 1/2 games and was efficient in a stunning win at New England.
You could make the argument that the Bills lost this game in the first half, when they rolled up 248 yards of offense but were able to muster only 10 points and trailed, 17-10.
-Buffalo tied the score on the next possession with long passes to Robert Woods (32 yards) and Sammy Watkins (47 yards) with Watkins catch going for a touchdown (7-7) with eight minutes left in the first quarter.
“On the plus side, LeSean McCoy was fantastic in his return to Philadelphia”. The Ertz catch and run led to a 30-yard Caleb Sturgis field goal that put the Eagles in front, 23-20, with 3:26 left in the fourth quarter.
McCoy had 74 yards rushing and 35 receiving in his return to Philadelphia. The sports journalist and television host did not have a problem with McCoy hugging Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie before the game, but found McCoy’s decision to kiss the Eagles logo at midfield a bit odd since he plays for another franchise now.
At least one eyewitness account from the tunnel leading off the field said McCoy threw his helmet into the locker room. “How he was traded wasn’t handled right”, Kelly said.
While Bradford is finding himself, head coach Chip Kelly publicly expressed his intentions to commit to Bradford for the long term.
Fans gave McCoy a mixed reaction before the game, with some cheers and a few boos. Many wore No. 25 jerseys in Bills and Eagles colors.
“LeSean doesn’t play that way”, Kelly said. “I mean… I’m not saying he did it, because I don’t recall him doing” it.
In a Nutshell: The Bills came into Philadelphia with no margin for error regarding their AFC Wild Card playoff hopes. “We moved the ball up and down the field and then we’d get a darn penalty”. It paid off with a 53-yard touchdown throw to Nelson Agholor.
Later in the third, the Bills marched down the field and capped off the drive with just signed two weeks ago Mike Gillislee’s 19-yard touchdown run.
After a forcing the Eagles to punt, Thigpen fumbled and Philadelphia recovered. The Bills started their drive at the Eagles’ 44. They were replaced, respectively, by Leodis McKelvin and Kevin Reddick…. He has just three in last two games and no tackles for losses. For the game, Buffalo committed 15 penalties for 101 yards. You can’t have that many penalties.
“We wouldn’t have traded for him if we thought he was going to be here for a year”, Kelly said.
Buffalo (6-6) continues to grow under new coach Rex Ryan and quarterback Tyrod Taylor.
The Bills answered the Eagles touchdown in the next series.
