Hillary Clinton camp to Donald Trump: ‘Hell no’ on apology
A poll shows Donald Trump would win a hypothetical head-to-head contest against either of his two closest Republican US presidential rivals, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, if the election were held today.
The Republican primary front-runner said the former secretary of State “does not have the strength of stamina” to handle the rigors of the presidency.
Bush has spoken out against Trump’s anti-Muslim controversies on multiple occasions, but during a radio interview with Bill Bennett, he thought Clinton had some nerve to make her claim without any evidence. “They are going to people showing them videos of Donald Trump insulting Islam and Muslims in order to recruit more radical jihadists”.
“Ask Lindsey Graham, did he enjoy running against Trump?” he said of the SC senator who on Monday announced his departure from the race for the Republican nomination. Counterterrorism experts and Reuters reporters who monitor Islamist online activity have found no evidence so far that Islamic State has mentioned Trump in its official online accounts.
“Hell no”, said Clinton campaign spokesman Brian Fallon. It quoted a counterterrorism expert and linked to a tweet from a “very vocal ISIS supporter”.
Trump went on to demand an apology from Clinton for statement and told host Matt Lauer he could be the messenger. No, no, not a health issue, I say she’s not strong enough to be president. Counterterrorism experts say it is almost impossible to keep track of the torrent of online activity being generated by Islamic State and its sympathizers. “I will demand an apology from Hillary”.
Another analyst in that piece said Trump’s “anti-Muslim comments” would be used by ISIS social media to “demonize” the US and draw in recruits. He’s making things worse, not better.
